Don Hunt is the new
Executive Director, Colorado Department of Transportation.4201 E.
Arkansas Ave., Denver, Colo. 80222. If you think Colorado Hwy.96 could
use some attention it might help if you mentioned this to him--as well
as to Tim Harris, Transportation director -Region2, Colo. Dept. of
Transportation, Pueblo, Co 81002. They are currently doing a crack seal
project on the east end of Hwy 96 but it appears doubtful this will
solve the jolting ride given to our local grain haulers.
Had a
question about our gravel policy. We still furnish residents with one
(1) free load of gravel for driveways or whatever. Any additional gravel
needs to come thru a private contractor. We will continue loading
gravel for someone using their own truck. The cost will be $25.00 for
tandem trucks, $35.00 for semis, plus .30 cents per cubic yard for the
material. Contact the road foreman for details about when and where our
loader will be working. All of this is pending time and availability of
our equipment. We do not want private loaders in the county gravel pits.
It violates the permit regulation and our liability insurance.
We do
not charge for dumping materials at the landfill at Eads. Someone had
asked about hauling old appliances to the dump. There is no charge for
that. We will probably start mashing that sort of waste and haul it to
Pueblo along with any other saleable material when we get a load.
