| Commissioners Corner By Dick Scott The Kiowa County
Economic Development Foundation has committed  $5000.00 to keep the Murdock
Building project moving forward. This will  help to secure grant funding
for the next construction phase. The Commissioners sincerely appreciate
their partnership on this phase.              We
learned last week that Competitive Power Ventures has withdrawn from
their proposed Wind Farm in the East end of the county. This is a real
disappointment since this was (I think) our best hope for economic
benefit to the county. The lack of transmission line to market energy
from the project was the major reason. There is still one company
considering a wind farm over toward Hwy 385. That too will depend on
transmission. So the situation for transmission need does not really
change. We need transmission for economic development but we need it in
a way that landowners providing right of way can live with.      |
